The Department of Parks and Recreation was established per IC 36-10-3-1 in 2018. The Department is governed by the Park and Recreation Board which consists of four (4) members to be appointed by the President of the Town Council, providing that no more than two members of the Board shall be affiliated with the same political party. Members
Park & Recreation Board members serve four-year terms of office. Upon the establishment of the Board, the term of the members initially appointed shall be one, two, three and four years respectively. Thereafter as a term expires each new appointment shall be for a four-year term. All terms shall expire on the first Monday in January, but an appointee shall continue in the office until his successor is appointed.

Meetings
Park & Recreation Board meetings meetings are regularly scheduled on the first Wednesday of each month, at 6pm, at Whiteland Town Hall.
