Public hearings on future annexation areas are scheduled for the following: For zoning the public hearing is scheduled at the Whiteland Plan Commission on Tuesday March 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. For the annexation hearing the public hearing is scheduled at the Whiteland Town Council meeting on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Both meetings are at the Whiteland Town Hall, 549 Main Street, Whiteland, Indiana 46184. Town Requests Feedback on Trash Removal Service

The Whiteland Town Council would like to get feedback from its residents regarding the trash service it sponsors/provides through Republic Services of Indiana and if you would like to have it continued through the Town or whether residents would prefer to contract the service themselves. This contract expires later this year and because this is the first time the Town had embarked on trash removal for its residents we want to make sure you want us to continue, by putting this our for bid or stop the Town sponsored service. Board of Zoning Appeals Vacancy

The Whiteland Town Council is taking letters of interest from Whiteland citizens to serve on the Whiteland Board of Zoning Appeals. Please send your letters to the Whiteland Town Manager at 549 Main Street or send letters and/or questions to the Town Manager e-mail.

This citizen’s board decides on exceptions to the Whiteland Zoning Code and is a five (5) member board.

Qualifications for this position is that the person be a resident of the Town.

Daylight Saving Time starts at 2:00 a.m. March 11, 2012, and ends at 2:00 a.m. on November 4, 2012.

That means that on the 11th of March move your clocks ahead 1 hour and on the 4th of November move your clocks back 1 hour.

Whiteland Comprehensive Plan

The Whiteland Town Council passed a resolution on April 11, 2011, adopting a new comprehensive plan for Whiteland. The Comprehensive Plan is a road map for the next 20 years for residential, commercial and industrial development as well as planning for transportation, including new roads, walking/biking trails, utilities including water, sewer, and storm water infrastructure needs, parks, etc.

Town of Whiteland Awarded Grant

The Town of Whiteland has been awarded a grant form recovery.gov and the Indiana Office of Energy Development to upgrade the lighting in the Whiteland Town Hall/Police Department, Whiteland Street Department and the Whiteland Wastewater Treatment Plant. In addition to these lighting upgrades, the Town has sponsored the re-lighting of The Whiteland Community High School Gymnasium and the Whiteland Elementary Gymnasium. The Town has also been awarded a grant to upgrade the heating and cooling equipment in the Whiteland Town Hall/Police Department, Whiteland Street Department and the Whiteland Wastewater Treatment Plant. The total dollars for both the lighting and heating and cooling grants is $164,343.00. The work to accomplish this will be starting about August1, 2010 and has to be completed by December 31, 2010. Any question regarding this grant can be directed to the Town Manager.
